Day 1
Quito

Arrival in Quito

Welcome to Quito! The biggest, and best-preserved colonial city in the Americas! Quito is considered the Cultural Capital of South America and the second most important city of the old Inca Empire.

Depending on arrival time, you can spend your day exploring the old town of Quito and the surrounding area. In the evening, one of our trip leaders will meet you at the hotel for a welcome briefing and there will be plenty of time to discuss details and answer any questions you may have regarding the adventure. Our first day is an informational and acclimation day.

Day 2
Isla Isabela

The Galapagos Islands

Prepare to explore the most amazing archipelago in the Pacific coast and the incredibly biodiverse Galapagos islands, famously referenced by Charles Darwin and the basis for his theory of the evolution of species. 

One of the activities will be an island crossing. Be on the lookout for dolphins and whales! 

Activity: Baltra Island

Explore the most amazing archipelago in the Pacific coast and the place where Charles Darwin based his theory of the evolution of species. Catch a morning flight from Quito to the island of Baltra. Upon arrival, you'll head to the town of Puerto Ayora, the biggest town in Galapagos.

Take a fast boat to Isabela, the largest island in the archipelago and the place where the most volcanic activity in the Galapagos is reported. The island is formed by six shield volcanoes: Alcedo, Cerra Azul, Darwin, Ecuador, Sierra Negra and Wolf, five of them still active making the island one of the most volcanically active places on earth!

During the island crossing, be on the lookout for dolphins and whales (July to October).

Day 3
Sierra Negra

Explore the Rim Around Lava-filled Craters

Our destination is the rim of the Sierra Negra Crater, an active volcano which last erupted in October 2005. Get ready to take in its breathtaking views and explore the circumference of the massive, lava-filled crater, over six miles across at its widest point!

Next, we will visit Tintoreras Islet, located at a short distance from Puerto Villamil and home to a great variety of wildlife such as sea turtles, penguins, sharks, and iguanas. 

Activity: Sierra Negra and Tintoreras

Our destination is the rim of the Sierra Negra Crater, an active volcano which last erupted in October 2005. Get ready to take in its breathtaking views and explore the circumference of the massive, lava-filled crater, over six miles across at its widest point!

We will also visit Tintoreras Islet, located a short distance from Puerto Villamil and home to a great variety of wildlife such as sea turtles, penguins, sharks, and marine iguanas.

Day 4
Isla Isabela

Swim Through Lava Tunnels & View Wildlife

Los Tuneles, or the Tunnels is a spectacular snorkeling site. The sea sanctuary provides the perfect waters as we explore the amazing formations of lava created by the last eruptions of the Volcanic Island.

Los Tuneles is home to a wide variety of species, including the curious Galapagos penguin, parrot fish, manta rays and white tipped reef sharks. 

Optional activities are also available either before or after the trip. These include snorkeling at Concha de Perla, kayaking in Tintoreras, surf lessons, biking or just relaxing on the exotic beaches of Isabela Island. 

Isla Isabela

Activity: Lava Tunnel Exploration

Explore the amazing formations of lava created by the last eruptions of the volcanic island. This magical place has been featured in several BBC and National Geographic nature documentaries. It is a labyrinth of lava arches in crystal clear waters.

Los Tuneles is home to a wide variety of species, including the curious Galapagos penguin, parrot fish, manta rays and white tipped reef sharks. 

Optional activities are also available either before or after the trip. These include snorkeling at Concha de Perla, kayaking in Tintoreras, surf lessons, biking or just relaxing on the beach.

We recommend a visit to the giant tortoise breeding center!

Day 5
Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz Island & Charles Darwin's Biological Research Station

Visit The Charles Darwin Research Station, a biological research station operated by the Charles Darwin Foundation. It is located on the shore of Academy Bay in the village of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos Islands, with satellite offices on Isabela and San Cristóbal islands.

The station houses an extensive collection of preserved specimens of Galapagos island wildlife and consists of a global team dedicated to environmental education for conservation.  

Activity: Charles Darwin Research Station

We embark on a fast boat from Isabela to Santa Cruz Island to visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and learn more about many of the endemic species in the area and about the conservation and management efforts of the Galapagos Islands.

After, we head to the "El Chato" Reserve in the highlands of Santa Cruz, home to the famous Galapagos tortoise. Hiking through El Chato's beautiful scenery is an unforgettable experience!

Keep an eye out for pintail ducks, egrets, flycatchers and finches on the hike. Observe the behaviors of frigate birds, which gather to wash the salt off their feathers at a nearby fresh water lake.

Alas, we return to Puerto Ayora to spend the evening in the Galapagos most populous town.

The German Beach is 500 m away. With large windows overlooking the sea, rooms at Angermeyer Waterfront Inn are bright and filled with natural light. They are decorated with tiled floors and beamed ceilings fixed with fans. Some rooms include spa baths.

Breakfast with a variety of fresh squeezed juices is served daily. The restaurant offers regional and international dishes, which can be enjoyed on the patio or on the water deck. Drinks and cocktails can be ordered at the bar, which features a fireplace for a cozier ambience. 


Guests can also relax on the private waterfront, take their chances snorkelling or unwind on the deck overlooking the ocean. Hotel Angermeyer Waterfront Inn is located on Punta Estrada Waterfront, next to Gus Angermeyer's legendary cave.

Airport shuttles can be arranged. Baltra Airport is 45 minutes way by car, whereas Turtle Bay is about 5 km away.
